PORN VALLEY—We've heard that one or two members of the adult performing community have their medical marijuana cards—and that's lucky for them, because a new lubricanting liquid that's recently come to market is only available to such card carriers: Foria.
Produced by a company called the Aphrodite Group, Foria's main ingredient is 100 percent food-grade coconut oil, which the company says has "an ideal viscosity and low pH."
“Coconut oil has been studied for its topical antimicrobial effects, including fighting off yeast and bacteria and optimizing the natural harmony and balance of the body,” a company spokesperson stated.
Each bottle, which costs $88 per ounce, also contains 360 milligrams of THC and "other cannabinoids"—about 30 "servings"—and it's recommended that women apply 4 to 8 spritzes—or about 8 to 32 milligrams of the active THC ingredient— "directly onto the clitoris, inner and outer labia, and inside the vagina."
Actually, the company's website describes Foria as a "pre-lube" rather than a substitute for regular lube, and recommends that it be applied 30 minutes before engaging in sex play to "allow the active compounds of the medicine to be activated and absorbed."
“Your body and its needs are unique, so it is recommended that you experiment slowly to learn what serving size is best for you," the website recommends. "Allow 15-30 minutes to relax and absorb the medicine; a great time for foreplay or self massage. Then enjoy alone or with a partner as desired.”
There's also another caveat regarding the lube's use in sex work: "Foria is composed of liquid coconut oil also known as MCT oil. As with all oils, latex condoms are non-compatible and contact can increase the risk of breakage. If using a condom in conjunction with Foria, we recommend choosing a non-latex condom."
But what the hell: Even little old ladies are getting a rise out of this stuff; just ask Carol Carlson, a "60-something who lives in Marin County [CA] with her husband":
"With no expectations I felt the power of it," she told San Francisco's East Bay Express. "I felt relaxed and aroused. I felt every feeling a little more sensitively. When you get older, [sex] becomes uncomfortable. Your body doesn’t function like it used to. It’s also a great lubricant, and it’s not messy like K-Y Jelly. It absorbs into the body, and that’s an added plus. I’m enjoying sex again, and my husband’s thrilled about that."
