LAS VEGAS—Neon, fur, feathers, superheroes … attendees of the spring International Lingerie Show couldn’t throw a stick without hitting some type of display that showcased some of the hottest trends in the world of intimate apparel.
With three rooms packed with costumes, lingerie lines and even pleasure products, ILS kicked off Monday with show floor hours and the always popular fashion show.
Strutting the runway were models showing off the latest looks for Halloween and beyond.
Taking cues from mainstream fashion, several companies had pieces that incorporated neon and other bright colors. Also big this year are new takes on animal costumes: While sexy kittens have been a staple of the industry for some time now, many manufacturers—including Roma, JeTaime, Forplay and Rubie’s—have taken that theme and run with it, adding faux fur, accessories and sexier looks to everything from leopards to lynx to bob cats.
Still popular this year is superhero costumes, with companies such as Rubie’s Costume Co. Inc. unveiling their licensed Batgirl and Catwoman costumes. Even shoe company Pleaser Shoes showcased lines of boots and high heels to accompany popular trends with animal and superhero-themed footwear on display.
On the show floor, several pleasure product companies were on hand to show off new products or even new packaging. At the Liberator booth, company reps were excited to show off the new line of Valkyrie panty harnesses. The panties are made from softer materials and come in more feminine styles—pink, or pink with black polka dots, for example.
“These are much more comfortable than some of the leather harnesses, and they hold most every strap-on compatible dildo on the market,” said Mac Durant, national sales manager for Liberator. “The packaging also allows them to be displayed as POP or on shelves, something that most other harnesses can’t do.”
Liberator also showed off the newest offerings from Tenga, the Tenga 3D, which was recently honored with the Red Dot Award for design. The white masturbation sleeves are made from silicone and have textures such as a spiral pattern or a polygon pattern, on the inside for intense stimulation. The display case doubles as a drying rack and storage container for the sleeves.
Wet For Her was on hand to show off new packaging for its award-winning products. Company rep Casey O’Connell also noted Wet For Her is in the works with SpareParts HardWare to package together a harness with the Toy 5, a nonphallic, slightly smaller dildo. Plans are also looking to release two new toys in the coming year, she said.
Good Vibes Wholesale also shared big news, as the company has rebranded its wholesale division under the name Pleasure Works. Company rep Mark Espinosa noted that in addition to the new name, several of the company’s silicone items have new packaging that still features a picture of the item on the outside, but uses paper instead of plastic so it’s friendlier to the environment.
“Many of the dildos are in the new packaging, and they are the first items to carry the new Pleasure Works name on the box,” he said.
Fun Factory USA also unveiled a few new items at ILS: the UFO and the Fou. The UFO resembles a classic unidentified flying object, with a bulbous design with ridges that extend out. The piece is perfect for external anal stimulation or clitoral and labial stimulation, noted Emilie Rosanvallon of Fun Factory USA. The company also extended its popular one-year warranty to a full two-year warranty, she said.
East Coast News and the Home Pleasure Party Plan Association joined forces to debut a new line of products, the Amour Prive collection. Janelle Whye, communications director for HPPPA, said the ILS debut was a soft launch for three of the initial products, all of which will be carried exclusively by ECN. A bullet (the Posh), butterfly vibe (the Fifi) and vibrating cockring (the Francois) are perfect products for home party companies, she said, since they are “Proven, Practical, Profitable.”
ILS continues its three-day run through today at the Rio Hotel and Casino, and will return again Sept. 10-12, which it will co-locate with the AVN Novelty Expo.
