LAS VEGAS—Several new companies made their debut alongside existing companies who showcased new products during the first day of the AVN Novelty Expo 2011.
Kretek International Inc., which deals in supplements and enhancements, is the first publicly traded company in that field. In addition to promoting its newest products—Libigrow and Libigirl—company officials announced plans for a major push in the coming weeks into the mainstream market.
“We will be available in 7-11 stores, Rite-Aids and more,” said Jerry Yalowitz, national brand director for the company. “And in a few weeks we will begin shooting commercials for a major mainstream advertising campaign that will feature celebrity endorsements.”
Another company drawing attention for a unique product release was Thrills & Giggles, which showcased the Pair’s Wheel. The wheel is a contraption that allows a woman to lie on her back with her knees pulled to her chest, and then be secured in. At that point, her partner can unlock a pin and turn the barrel portion of the unit from side to side, even completing a 360-degree turn.
“For years, every sexual position has been about the thrusting motion and sensation,” said Nelson Cayabyab. “But the Pair’s Wheel allows users to enjoy the sensation of rotation either by itself or in combination with the thrusting.”
Not every new product was so high-tech, however. The Findom is a flavored condom for the finger, which allows for protection from germs and nails during hand-to-vagina contact.
The product fits over any size finger, and is perfect to target a lesbian market, which has been underserved, company officials said.
Ooo Boutique also showcased condoms at ANE, and noted that the packaging helped set the designer line apart from traditional prophylactics. A set labeled as “Take Me” offers suggestions on each condom package of where they can be used, while the “Try Me” set suggests positions to try when using the condoms.
Brett Scuiletti noted that other popular lines of the designer condoms include the “Art of Lust” series, which showcases original artwork on each package, and the Kung Fu Sutra line, a set of eight condoms with individual pen-and-ink drawings that have imagery combining the passion of kung fu and the Kama Sutra.
Innovation also found a home at ANE, as the Minna line of vibes was on display. The vibe has a sensor in the handle that increases the intensity of vibration the harder it’s squeezed.
“There’s also a memory function, that can record whatever pattern you squeeze,” explained company official Brian. “It can record up to 10 seconds an then play it back over and over again.”
He added that the vibe allows users to create their own experience, rather than rely on pulsation or vibration modes pre-set by a manufacturer.
