Ala. Woman Starts Protest Via Sex-Toy Mailing

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Former gubernatorial candidate Loretta Nall is urging Alabama residents to mail sex toys to Alabama Attorney General Troy King to protest potential changes to the state's obscenity laws.

Nall, a resident of Alexander City, said Tuesday that prosecuting store owners is a violation of privacy and a waste of time.

"It's absolutely outrageous an attorney general would squander our tax dollars and barge into our bedroom and tell us what we can and cannot do in Alabama," she said. "We have real crime in Alabama."

The Press-Register reported Tuesday that King spokesman Chris Bence said addressing vague language in the state law should be done by the Legislature.

"We have 105 members of the House and 35 members of the Senate," Bence said. "I would suggest [Nall] buy 140 items and send them to Legislature."

Nall said she had mailed an inflatable pig to King's office; she expects it to be delivered by the end of this week.

Nall was the 2006 Libertarian nominee for governor.
