LAWRENCE, Kan. - Under laws regulating the locations of adult businesses, adult retailer Naughty But Nice has been ordered to vacate its location by Jan. 5.
State and city laws require sex shops within city limits to be located along state highways in zoned business areas. Shops that does not comply are forced to close.
Store owner Richard Osburn said there were no restrictions preventing him from opening his business in its current location five years ago. Though he said he was prepared to fight to keep his store open, he said he will comply with the court-ordered eviction.
Osburn said he plans to relocate his business, but did not identify the location of the building he's considering. There is some question about whether the site is inside or outside the city limits, he said, adding that he would only operate just outside the city limits.
Osburn said he also is considering whether the new location would draw a desirable amount of business.
