LOS ANGELES—AVN Senior Editor of Pleasure Products Sherri L. Shaulis has long known she had a unique job that many were envious of, but never thought her daytime gig would land her on a nationally syndicated daytime talk show.
Shaulis was a featured guest on the Sept. 20 "You Get Paid To Do What?" episode of The Jeff Probst Show. Other guests included Mike Rowe, host of Dirty Jobs on the Discovery Channel, and John Kirhoffer, the man who creates the challenges on Survivor.
"It was more than a little surreal that after more than 20 years of being the person who conducts interviews to become the person who was being interviewed," Shaulis said of the experience. "But I have long said that I have one of the coolest jobs in the world, so it was nice to get the chance to talk about my work and AVN to millions of people."
Shaulis was featured as a guest because part of her job is testing adult pleasure products for inclusion in the monthly Buyer's Guide section of AVN. Probst asked how she got into the industry and about the types of products he tests. The segment featured footage shot at her home as well as a live interview with the Survivor host in front of a studio audience. Mike Rowe even lobbed a few jokes her way during the segment and throughout the show as they sat in the audience together.
Several products were also featured during the segment, including items from Pipedream Products, California Exotic Novelties, Rocks-Off, Big Teaze Toys, Nature Lovin' Lubricants, Sportsheets, Liberator, Doc Johnson, Shunga Erotic Art and LELO.
"I knew that my friends and family would watch the episode and I would get feedback from them, but what has surprised me the most has been the feedback from complete strangers all across the country who saw the show and tracked me down to ask questions and offer their thoughts on the show," Shaulis said.
