For some reason, certain religious/anti-porn organizations have picked November to push their anti-masturbation message, but this time around, live cam platform Stripchat is once again partnering with Sexual Health Alliance for a groundbreaking live cam session addressing the stigma—and debunking the pseudoscience—of anti-masturbation campaigns like #NoNutNovember.
“Sexual pleasure isn’t just enjoyable, it’s healthy,” assured Max Bennet, Vice President of New Media at Stripchat. “As an adult entertainment platform, we have a responsibility to fight back against the forces of sexual repression. This November, we couldn’t think of a better topic to address than the misguided, harmful dogma of the so-called anti-fappers.”
Campaigns like the annual “No Nut November” advocate abstaining from adult entertainment and masturbation for at least a month, and promise that the outcome will be everything from virility to clear skin to success seducing women.
Stripchat began its therapeutic pilot program in August, which makes therapists accessible online to speak with users, after an internal study of users showed that large numbers of cam fans struggle with shame and stigma about masturbation. An initial session with Sexual Health Alliance’s Dr. David Ley proved to be wildly popular, quickly eclipsing the other adult cam shows on the 60 million-strong network in terms of sheer audience.
“The 'No Nut' campaigns are just the latest version of a centuries-old moralizing about sex,” noted Dr. Ley. “We don’t need to give people—especially young people—any more reason to feel shame. There’s already so much anxiety about sex and masturbation. The more we can provide accurate information and reduce shame, the better. I hope to speak with users and debunk so much of the bad science that underlies this movement.”
“Why Nut! Defeating Anti-Masturbation Sex Shaming” will stream from Stripchat on November 14, 2019 at 4 PM ET. Users must be logged with an (free) account in order to ask questions; however, no account or membership to Stripchat is needed to view the session.
