LOS ANGELES—Adult industry attorney Corey D. Silverstein, of MyAdultAttorney.com and Adult.Law, alongside attorney Lawrence Walters, performer and producer Charlie Forde, and Grooby CEO Steven Grooby will be the panelists for the next event in Silverstein Legal’s "Legal Impact" series, “Age Verification Legislation: What the &^$% is Going On?!”
The seminar will be live-streamed on Monday, March 20 at 4 p.m. ET (1 pm PT) via Zoom. During this special event, Silverstein will lead a discussion exploring why—seemingly all of a sudden—an increasing number of states are passing age verification legislation, and what it means for the adult entertainment community in general and free speech overall.
The event is sponsored by YourPaysitePartner and will be moderated by sociologist Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals.
Those interested in attending the seminar mat register for free via EventBrite here.
“Age verification is now active in some U.S. states, and other territories will follow,” Grooby explained. “The adult industry has been somewhat engaged, but the next few years is going to be a changing landscape as legislators for each state demand different barriers and different companies compete for a share of the income.”
Added Forde, “In Australia, I’m lucky because sex work is being decriminalized state by state, and this gives me a lot of protection. America is very different, and the vast majority of payment gateways follow American laws, predominantly.
“No one in the industry wants children to be exposed to non-age-appropriate content ... we want to protect children in ways that don’t result in discrimination against our industry,” she continued. “The industry needs to be engaged because we are the only people who can really advocate for ourselves. No other industries are going to protect us.”
"Legal Impact" live webinar events are free to attend for all members of the adult entertainment community and will be posted subsequently online.
