TOPEKA, Kan./BOISE, Idaho/LINCOLN, Neb.—Aylo, the Montreal-based parent company of the popular adult tube site Pornhub.com, has announced plans to additionally geo-block the states of Kansas, Idaho and Nebraska.
In an updated version of a Pornhub blog article titled "Age Verification in the US," these three states are mentioned as a part of a new round of geo-blocked jurisdictions due to local age verification requirements for porn websites.
"In July 2024, we will unfortunately be blocking several more states who are introducing similar laws," reads the blog post, pointing to Indiana, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky and Nebraska.
AVN reported on Monday that Indiana and Kentucky will be blocked on June 27 and July 10, respectively.
The Pornhub blog post notes that other states will lose access to the tube site and the network of Aylo-owned web properties on or around July 1, 2024.
"More of these laws are coming, and the safety of our users is one of our biggest concerns," reads the post. "However, the best and most effective solution for protecting minors and adults alike is to identify users at the source: by their device, or account on the device, and allow access to age-restricted materials and websites based on that identification."
AVN has also reported extensively on Aylo's position on device-based verification.
Executives for Aylo and its ownership group, Ottawa-based private equity firm Ethical Capital Partners, have also voiced support for device-level opt-out porn filters.
