LOS ANGELES—An adult actress who was arrested by police on Wednesday as she was boarding a plane at Miami International Airport has been charged with five felony counts of cruelty to animals, the Miami Herald has reported. Stephanie Hird, 29, who works mostly under the name Megan Jones, entered the industry a decade ago and has approximately 70 titles to her credit, per iafd.com.
"Her arrest comes less than two weeks after authorities charged another model, Sara Zamora, 28, with eight felony counts of animal cruelty for allegedly decapitating chickens and beating rabbits as part of an animal torture sex fetish video," added the Herald. "Hird is accused of similar acts. She is alleged to have crushed live fish with 'her hands and feet,' according to an arrest warrant filed in court.
"The fish struggle and gasp while slowly being crushed to death on an ice cooler," the warrant stated. "[Hird] exposes her crotch area and talks to the fish about the killing while they are being crushed.”
Thursday, a judge granted bail for Hird on a $7,500 bond, but ordered her "to stay on house arrest with her family locally," said the paper. "Appearing via video from the jail, Hird protested that the alleged crimes are too old to be prosecuted."
She told the judge, “They’re outside the statute of limitations."
According to investigators, the two recent animal cruelty cases are also related. They contend "Zamora and Hird did videos for Adam Redford, a South Florida fishing boat captain who produced so-called animal 'crush' videos, which feature actresses killing animals while engaged in sex acts with themselves or others."
Redford was not arrested but he is listed as a co-defendant in the case. According to the paper, "He recently concluded probation for similar misdemeanor animal cruelty charges there."
The Herald added that it was unclear if the performer, who was reportedly "in her hometown this week for work, openly accepting fantasy fetish sessions," has a lawyer. She could not be reached for comment.
This is not the first time an adult performer has been charged with animal cruelty. In 2012, performer Raul Armenteros, aka Ramon, pleaded guilty to 21 counts of animal cruelty stemming from a July 2011 arrest.
