Michael Avenatti Interviewed By Kathy Griffin At 2018 Politicon

LOS ANGELESPoliticon, which bills itself as the “Unconventional Political Convention,” has announced that Stormy Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti will be interviewed by controversial comedian Kathy Griffin during the headline event on Saturday, October 20 at 6 PM at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Those who've been reading about Avenatti's good work on behalf of Daniels will finally get a chance to see the attorney up close and personal at the convention.

The program, called “How to Beat Trump,” will be a one-hour discussion focused on how Griffin and Avenatti both found themselves up against President Donald Trump and how they navigated challenges to be among the few to find success in that battle. Griffin famously came under fire for posing for photos holding a fake "decapitated" Donald Trump head, while Avenatti has represented Daniels since she first decided to challenge the non-disclosure agreement regarding the hush money paid by Trump weeks before the 2016 election.

"I'm so excited to be joining Michael Avenatti on stage at Politicon. Since my Trump photo scandal, I've been wanting someone to come out and take on Trump in a bold way. Michael and Stormy Daniels have done that in spades,” said Kathy Griffin. “Hell, I wish I had Michael Avenatti on air defending me, that's for sure. I know the Politicon audience isn't necessarily going to be friendly—I'll encounter everyone from progressives to conservatives—but my appearance this year along with my sold-out tour proves that while the Trumps may try to knock people down, ultimately they won’t prevail."

Avenatti agreed, adding that the discussion “promises to be lively and never boring!”

The convention is an unconventional and highly entertaining weekend of political discourse and comedy, just two weeks before the midterm elections with control of Congress hanging in the balance. Griffin and Avenatti’s discussion is expected to make headlines across the country and be talked about for some time to come, as each year Politicon has found itself in the midst of some of the biggest and most controversial political news. Last year, Anthony Scaramucci was a key topic of conversation in the week leading up to his Politicon appearance—he same week he was famously fired from the White House after serving as Communications Director for ten days. Liberal Hollywood star Chelsea Handler also made headlines interviewing conservative commentator Tomi Lahren just months after Lahren was fired from Glenn Beck’s The Blaze for making pro-choice comments on The View. Sparks are likely to fly again this year as Politicon’s bi-partisan programming brings together Democrats and Republicans to hash out their policy differences just weeks before the midterm elections.

In addition to Griffin and Avenatti, Politicon has announced that the weekend will also feature a top tier, bi-partisan lineup including Dennis Rodman, Tucker Carlson, Cenk Uygur, Ben Shapiro, James Carville, Tomi Lahren, Ana Kasparian, Ann Coulter, Chris Christie, Henry Winkler, Adam Carolla, Michael Steele, Alyssa Milano, and many more (listed here).
