ST. GEORGE, UT—We're guessing that not a lot of people show up to the Utah DMV to have their driver's license photo taken while wearing a colander on their head, but that's just what retired porn star Asia Carrera did a few months ago—and we can't help but wonder if that had anything to do with her arrest earlier this week for driving under the influence ... while on the couch at her daughter's school!
According to a report on the StGeorgeUtah.com website, one of St. George's 911 operators received a call Thursday afternoon that an unidentified woman was "passed out on a couch in the Washington County School District building." When a police officer arrived, he spoke with the woman and "could smell the odor of alcohol on her breath," and according to a probable cause statement filed by Officer Colby Carter, the woman said she had driven her 10-year-old daughter to the school district building in order to take a test.
The woman, apparently still unidentified, showed the first officer her SUV and then attempted to drive off, but was stopped from doing so by the officer. Officer Carter arrived on the scene shortly afterwards, and was informed by the first officer that the woman, now identified as Jessica Steinhauser (Carrera's real name), had the keys to the vehicle, that it was registered to her, and that she had used the vehicle to bring her daughter to the school district building.
Carter then asked Steinhauser to take a field sobriety test, to which she agreed, but even after having explained the instructions for the test twice, Steinhauser stilll did not follow the instructions, and as she attempted to do so, fell "into a grassy area."
The cops then gave her a "breath test," and she reportedly blew 0.254 percent, roughly three times the legal limit of 0.08. She then consented to a further breath test using an "intoxilyzer machine," and blew 0.202, roughly two-and-a-half times greater than she could legally score for driving.
As a result, Steinhauser was arrested and charged with driving under the influence with a child under the age of 16 in the vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor, although the charge is based entirely on Steinhauser's alleged statements to the first officer on the scene, and officers did not actually see her driving her vehicle at any point. She is currently free on bail.
