SAN DIEGO, Calif.—This week, Superior Court Judge Kevin Enright continues to hear testimony from the 22 Jane Doe plaintiffs in their lawsuit against the adult website GirlsDoPorn, its owner Michael Pratt, videographer Matthew Wolfe, actor/director/jack-of-many-trades Andre Garcia and several Pratt-owned business entities—and yesterday's testimony focused in part on the "bait-and-switch" scheme Pratt allegedly employed, which was to promise amateur women huge amounts of cash to film their first hardcore scenes, only for the women to find their payments substantially reduced from the agreed-upon amount, often for no reason.
According to an article on the Courthouse News website, Jane Doe 10 testified on Monday that when she was 22 years old, a friend had put her in contact with someone using the name "Jonathan," who turned out to be Garcia. The friend had already shot several scenes for the company, and that made her more receptive to Garcia's offer—as did the several photos Garcia texted to her of other women "smiling and holding up fanned-out wads of cash as proof they were paid."
Garcia told Doe 10 that she'd be paid $5,000 to shoot an hour's worth of hardcore, which would be a single scene featuring five sex positions, and which was to be shot at an upscale San Diego hotel where she would be set up with a room for the night. He also said that the footage would not be seen in the U.S., and that in this case, it would be sold privately to an "Australian collector."
But when Garcia and his crew arrived to begin shooting, he told Doe 10 that he'd sent photos of her to the "collector," who supposedly told Garcia that Doe 10 "looked old and I had bruises on my body," she testified, "so he didn’t want to pay as much." In the end, Doe 10 was given just half of the promised amount: $2,500.
As a further insult, after the scene was over, Garcia texted Doe 10 at her hotel, "I soooo wanna fuck you off cam. I would be slow and gentle." And when she replied, questioning why she had been paid so much less than promised, Garcia's only response, the next day, was, "Are you sore?"
Moreover, as had been the case with several other Jane Does, including Doe 10's friend who had recommended the company, Doe 10's scene was posted online on several adult sites including Pornhub, and her personal information, including a photo of her and her mother from Facebook, were posted on the now-defunct PornWikiLeaks.
Once Doe 10 became aware that her scene was on Pornhub, she immediately requested that the company remove all links to the footage.
"I kept asking if it would be shared with anyone here and they said 'No, it would be in Australia only'," Doe said, adding that upon discovering that the scene was online, "I was in a state of panic when I first found out … I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it."
The trial is currently in its eighth week, with no end in sight—and no word whether Michael Pratt will be returning to the U.S. at any point to face his accusers.
