Adult Empire Takes A Minute To Explain California's Controversial Prop 60

PITTSBURGH, PA—Award-winning online adult retailer and entertainment site Adult Empire (AE) is taking a stand with the porn industry this election year, supporting "No On Prop 60."

AE YouTube channel hosts Chelsea and Becky shot a one-minute introductory video, explaining California state Proposition 60 and why the adult industry vehemently opposes it.

"The livelihood of the adult industry is now in the hands of the California voters," begins AE channel host Becky, as her co-host Chelsea picks up and continues. "If Prop 60 passes, it allows 28 million California residents to file a lawsuit against performers, distributors, cable companies, hotels and any business that makes adult films available for sale or viewing if a condom is not visible in the film."

Prop 60 requires condoms to be used in all pornographic film shoots within the state, creating privacy, discrimination and harassment for adult performers. Film production, which brings millions of dollars to California, will be forced to move its business to a state more accepting of the industry—and its revenue dollars.

A more detailed editorial at AE's company blog addresses the issue more comprehensively.

"In an instance of absurd overreach, Prop 60 would allow any California resident who observes a violation of the proposition to sue and collect damages. (This ridiculous clause would also endanger pornstars by exposing their birth names and home addresses during court proceedings.)," noted AE blogger Dallas. "It would set up AIDS Foundation founder Michael Weinstein as a veritable czar of porn, with the ability to enforce the law himself if the state failed to do so. Neither of these controversial clauses pass any common-sense acid test about what might constitute a reasonable law. Indeed, the proposition reaches so far that it’s a rare issue that’s united both Democrats and Republicans, the California state parties of which both oppose Prop 60. (In this era of polarization, that alone is a remarkable statement about how wrong-headed this proposition really is.)"

Chelsea and Becky's clip drives home the importance of understanding every aspect of the ballot initiative before going to the polls Tuesday, November 8.

"Prop 60 puts the government in your bedroom and hurts the individuals who help get you off," said Chelsea, "so please look it up, get the facts, get educated and Vote NO on Prop 60."
