GERMANY—Porn stars who are also teachers are fired in Germany just like they are in the United States and elsewhere. In a recent case involving German adult performer Julia Pink (pictured), who had also worked for 17 years as a teacher with the Diakonia Germany Evangelical Federal Association in Munich, the now-terminated Pink is refusing to give up following a lower court ruling in support of the Association's decision to peremptorily end her employment, and has said she is appealing the ruling.
According to the Mirror, "Miss Pink, 38, taught children and supervised adults with learning disabilities but she also moonlighted as a hardcore porn actress and was discovered after winning a ‘shooting star’ award at the Venus porn fair." Without any warning, added the paper, Pink was fired after "church leaders became aware of her erotic films and decided she was not suitable."
A church spokesperson explained, "Despite her long years of service we feel that her other work is incompatible with our message."
But after Pink took the Association to court in October, Judge Renate Leier reportedly found that while the decision to terminate her was "unfair," the church had acted within its rights, ruling, "The applicant is involved with pornographic activities contrary to the Church's sexual ethics and thereby committed a breach of duty of loyalty that may justify a dismissal."
Pink has responded with the promise to appeal along with an ardent defense of her right to be both a porn star and a Christian, arguing, "I do porn films but that doesn’t mean I can’t teach and that I can’t promote Christian values.
"I myself am a Catholic and a believer," she added. "I visit swingers clubs and do porn but so what?"
That sentiment is shared by Christian Herman, the parent of two children who were taught by Pink, who told the Mirror, "Millions of people watch porn in Germany and around the world and it doesn't mean that they can't bring up their children properly. So just because this woman is in porn doesn't mean she can't do her job as a teacher well."
