WASHINGTON – A D.C. Superior Court Judge has issued a restraining order, closing the doors of a controversial adult store called the Fun Fair. Residents have been battling with the business for the last ten years, contending that the store is involved in criminal activity, including prostitution, drugs, and violence.
According to a recent report, the D.C. Attorney General pledged to do whatever it took to close down the business after fielding complaints from Mount Vernon residents. Some critics have even gone as far as organizing a neighborhood group called the Coalition to Close Fun Fair.
“They are not ones to actually follow the law,” Coalition member, Cary Silverman, told ABC 7 News.
Jonathan Katz, the Fun Fair's attorney, has attempted to keep the business open by filing numerous briefs, maintaining that it is unconstitutional to close the adult store.
D.C. police confirmed to ABC News 7 that there have been several prostitution-related arrests made around the area.
A hearing date on an injunction that may permanently close the business has yet to be set.
