ALBANY - The State Comptroller's Office has accused a former Voorheesville school superintendent of misusing district money, including a night at a gentlemen’s club and then a stay at a nearby hotel.
A recent audit, released Thursday, found the former school official charged thousands in personal expenses, in addition to the night at a local strip club.
"I don't think it's necessarily illegal," Deputy Comptroller Mark Pattison, told WTEN Albany. "It's certainly not proper."
Among other charges, the audit found that 145 dollars for a hotel stay, just 12 miles from McCartney's home. And that same night, 357 dollars dropped at a local strip joint.
"Because it's salacious, I think it undermines people's trust in public institutions," Pattison continued.
"Taxpayers dollars come dearly, and they need to be going toward the education of the children...not these types of expenses.”
