Seven Arrested in Investigation of Kansas Adult Stores

WICHITA, Kan. – An investigation of two adult video stores has yielded seven arrests, including two employees. According to a recent report, the investigations of Circle Cinema and the Adult Superstore were sparked by neighborhood complaints.

“We sent officers in plain clothes, and they identified violations with the city ordinance while the officers were in there,” Capt. John Speer told the Wichita Eagle.

Speer declined to elaborate on the nature of the complaints.

Four people were arrested at the Circle Cinema and three were arrested at the Adult Superstore. The violations included sodomy, lewd and lascivious conduct and obstructing officers.

“I just don't think it should be in a residential area,” Susie Beatty, who said she was part of the neighborhood complaint, told the Wichita Eagle. “It’s a problem that's always going to be there. Before they came in, we were a sleepy community. They turned us into a prison community, basically.”
