OXNARD, Calif.—You might assume that California would be the lenient state and Florida the punitive one when it comes to tolerance for teachers who have performed in porn, but if so you would be mistaken. On the same day that we learned that Orlando, Florida will allow porn performer/producer Collin O'Neal to teach again in the state after being fired last year, we also come to find that Oxnard, California has decided to suspend, and will probably terminate Middle School science teacher Stacie Halas, 31, for her contributions to the art form. Have the poles reversed, as well?
Halas, who apparently appeared on BigSausagePizza.com, the footage of which may also have found its way onto a volume of the Big Sausage Pizza DVDs released between 2005 and 2008, performed under the name Tiffany Six.
After meeting behind closed doors with the school board Wednesday night to discuss the situation, which only came to light last week, superintendent Jeff Chancer said, "If we feel as a district the teacher in question is the teacher who we believe it is, we will pursue discipline up to termination."
Halas is on paid administrative leave from the Richard B. Haydock Intermediate School while an investigation into her former extracurricular activities continues. The school has refused to say how long she has worked there, but officials did say that they have never had any issues with her before.
Considering Chancer's comments, however, it looks as if Halas' days teaching in Oxnard may be numbered—a tragedy for several reasons—though on the bright side she can probably look forward to an offer of more work by some enterprising adult studio in the aftermath of her anticipated termination.
Over at the LA Weekly, on the other hand, Dennis Romero thinks Halas should take some solace from Loftis' experience.
