PORTSMOUTH, N.H. - One adult store was closed and two others forced to shut down their viewing booths as a result of routine city health inspections that found them in violation of a city ordinance, according to Seacoastonline.com.
Infractions found at the 5th Wheel, the store that was closed entirely, included the discovery in booths of bodily fluids. In April 2007, it was reported that notices had been posted on Craigslist.com soliciting sexual encounters at the store.
"The ordinance is intended to protect public health," said city attorney Bob Sullivan. "These have proven to be places where there is anonymous sexual activity and indiscriminate dispersal of bodily fluids."
Del Paone, owner of affected store the Northland Moonlite Reader, said he's complying with the city's orders, but consulting his attorney on the matter.
"I don't make any money on these booths," said Paone. "I've turned it over to my attorney, but if it's up to me, I'll just shut them down."
