Knitting Factory Landlords Ask Judge To Block Not the Bradys, Spunk'd Party

LOS ANGELES - Attorneys for the landlords of the L.A. venue, Knitting Factory in Hollywood, will ask a judge today for an order blocking the club from hosting All Media Play’s “Not The Brady’s XXX and Spunk’d The Movie Official Porn Bash” on Saturday night.

The landlords, Street Retail West 7, filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, alleging breach of contract, and will request a temporary restraining order to stop the club from hosting the party. The landlords claim that Knitting Factory management has violated the venue's lease by hosting porn industry events.

“This is a horrific example of the discrimination against a group of people who are simply throwing a party,” All Media Play’s Jeff Mullen told AVN. “It’s a little like the Minority Report in the sense that they're pre-judging the event in their minds, but don’t really have any idea about what we’re doing at all.”

According to a report in the Daily Breeze, Street Retail West 7’s lawsuit also takes issue with the fact that the Knitting Factory has hosted adult-oriented parties in the past, including the “Sex Z Pictures Rock 'N Porn XXX” in March, 2006, and the “Los Angeles Erotica Film Fest 2007” in September.

Mullen said he will not know the status of the party until he is contacted from the court house, but plans on pressing forward with the event until told otherwise. “We have not done anything wrong, to exercise this type of discrimination against people based solely on the fact that they’re in the pornography industry is completely ridiculous in this day and age...and we're not going to go down without a fight.

“We have a reputation for throwing the best industry parties, and this one might just go down as the best ever.”

The party is still set to take place at the Knitting Factory (7021 Hollywood Blvd.). Porn performers and agents will be admitted free until 11 p.m. but once the red carpet closes they must pay the $20 admission fee. All others including industry members will be admitted all night for $20. A limited number of VIP tickets with media room access will be available for $50 via the knitting factory box office at www.knittingfactory.com.

Members of the media may cover the red carpet and media room activities as all professional cameras both still and video will be allowed inside the event.

Music will be provided by DJ RJ Spinner taking over the main room and Jew Heffner of KSEX spinning classic soul, hip-hop and rock in the theatre room.
