WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Ducati Productions owner Kevin Ducati has filed a lawsuit against the Venetian Hotel for negligence resulting in unauthorized entry to his room and theft of a large sum of cash during his stay for the 2007 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo.
Ducati claims in the suit that Venetian staff allowed an unregistered, intoxicated person to enter his room while he was attending the AVN Awards Show at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
After returning to the hotel, Ducati alleges he found the door to his room propped open, and soon discovered cash and other items to be missing.
Further investigation, Ducati claims, revealed that a person had presented the front desk a damaged key card with the claim it was for Ducati's room, and the hotel staff allowed the person entry to the room.
"I was the only registered guest of the suite," Ducati said. "No one should have ever been allowed entry to my room at any time, including maid service, which was specifically denied unless I was in the room.
"The Venetian made no denial that they allowed unauthorized entry to my suite even after I reported a security threat," he continued, "yet they were completely and utterly uncooperative in resolving anything. They made it very clear they were not going to do anything about it and offered no restitution of any kind. They could have easily comped my stay but refused to do anything."
Ducati also alleged that the exchange between hotel staff and the person seeking access to the room was captured on video.
No statement was immediately available from the Venetian.
