LOS ANGELES—Sexual wellness authority, Wicked Pictures contract star, and Guide to Wicked Sex creator Jessica Drake is campaigning for the adult industry to join forces for a Thanksgiving fundraiser. Drake, still fresh from helping Team Wicked raise thousands of dollars for the 30th Annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, has already established donation boxes for Downtown Women’s Center and LA Food Bank at the Wicked Pictures, AVN Media Network and XBIZ Media offices in an effort to encourage members of the adult industry to give back to the community.
“Many people ask a good way to get involved with charity work, and I suggest finding a cause to help promote during the holidays,” said Drake. “It’s the perfect time for people to make a difference, and Thanksgiving definitely ignites the spirit of kindness. I am hoping the L.A. adult entertainment industry will come together to show the world the tremendous positive impact we have on our local community.”
Drake is encouraging other adult performers, production studios, and industry workers to drop off goods at one of the established donation locations—or even set up their own donation boxes, which Drake will arrange to have picked up.
AVN Media Chief Operating Officer Janet Gibson believes in the adult industry’s ability to create change when working together.
"Many adult companies have a long history of community outreach," Gibson reflected. "We are glad to be involved with Wicked Pictures and Jessica Drake, as they try to bring awareness to local charities, while enlisting the support of the entire industry."
XBIZ Media Managing Editor Dan Miller has already answered Drake’s call to action, and is excited to be a part of the cause.
"We're delighted to support Jessica's efforts to give back to the community this Thanksgiving,” stated Miller. “XBIZ is located in close proximity to downtown Los Angeles, so having our offices serve as one of Jessica's drop-off locations for a charity, such as Downtown Women's Center, is ideal."
The donation period will run from October 28–November 25, 2014. Non-perishable food items will be accepted for the LA Food Bank, while the following high quality, new or gently used items are requested for the Downtown Women’s Center:
• Silverware
• Toiletries
• Bus tokens/ bus passes
• Storage bins (3 ft x 2 ft or smaller)
