IMDb Snafu Leads to Lawsuit

NEW YORK - A filmmaker named Nesya Shapiro Blue has filed suit in Manhattan Supreme Court against Amazon.com for incorrectly crediting her on its Internet Movie Database (IMDb) as having directed the 1991 Vivid Video productions Fantasy in Blue and Dreams of Candace Hart.

Claiming that the informational foul-up — the movies in question were actually directed by Nancy Blue — has caused her reputation to be "severely tarnished," the plaintiff is seeking $2.15 million in damages.

Blue has one actual directing credit to her name (though just as Nesya Shapiro), 1978's Passages. She however did, in an interesting twist, serve as cinematographer on the British documentary Against Pornography: The Feminism of Andrea Dworkin, which profiles the anti-porn crusader of the title.
