MARTINSBURG, W. Va. - Hard2Find Videos owner Loren Jay Adams has been convicted on federal charges of shipping obscene DVDs through the mail.
Adams, 45, was found guilty on six counts Tuesday in U.S. District Court. The charges stemmed from videos depicting bestiality and fisting which Adams sent to an address in Martinsburg in February.
Adams had been trading porn videos for 15 years. During the trial, prosecutors used evidence from Adams' 2002 conviction for selling bestiality movies in his home state of Indiana to win the case.
AVN spoke to Adams just after his arrest in May at a friend's home in Morgan County, Ind.
"I did not produce these [videos]; I did not make them," Adams told AVN. "These are videos I've acquired over the years through trading."
The Hard2Find Videos bust was part of the federal government's effort to nail purveyors of "extreme" porn through the Obscenity Prosecution Task Force led by Brent Ward.
"The way I'm looking at it, at the very least it's entrapment," Adams told AVN. "I have a disclaimer on the front page of the website that says the user certifies that this stuff is legal where the user is located, that they are over 18 and that the user takes responsibility for the material. They [the government] are venue shopping; they want to prosecute people in West Virginia where they think it will be considered obscene."
Adams faces up to five years in prison, and $250,000 in fines for each count. No sentencing date has been set.
