CANOGA PARK, Calif. — The Free Speech Coalition today released its Code of Ethics, designed to serve as a guide for members and for use in the organization's lobbying efforts.
"The adoption of this Code of Ethics is only the beginning of a process," said FSC executive director Diane Duke. "Moving forward, FSC will work closely with each sector of the adult entertainment community to consider the application of the principles contained in the Code of Ethics to our businesses and our activities."
The document outlines ethical standards of behavior for adult businesses, addressing such topics as protecting minors from exposure to adult material, recognizing performers' rights, following guidelines for safe sex and health testing, safeguarding the privacy of customers and employees, and implementing professional business practices.
Duke hopes the Code of Ethics will help FSC in its ongoing mission "to tell the truth about the adult entertainment industry as a vital and, yes, ethical part of today’s society that adds to the quality of life for many consumers and [provides] a living wage and solid workplace for tens of thousands of employees."
FSC plans to follow up the Code of Ethics with an outline of best practices for specific industry segments.
