FSC Opens Nominations for Board of Directors

The Free Speech Coalition invites all FSC members to submit nominations for its 2007 board of directors election. The nominations were opened this morning.

In addition to five incumbents whose names automatically were added to the list of nominees, two additional openings on the 13-seat board are available. The top seven nominees and five incumbent cadidates will be included on the final ballot. Results of the election are expected to be announced during the FSC's annual membership meeting during the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas in January.

An adult entertainment advocacy organization, the FSC encourages good business practices within the industry and works to safeguard the industry from oppressive governmental regulation. The board of directors serves a key role in its mission, providing oversight of strategic planning, approval of annual budgets, and periodic review of progress against strategic goals. Additionally, board members serve on six supporting committees focused on executive issues, government and legal concerns, membership, Internet, fundraising. and public information.

Nominating ballots already have been mailed to FSC members. The deadline for their return is Oct. 31. Final ballots will be mailed to FSC members on Nov. 17; completed ballots must be returned by Dec. 8.

The five incumbent candidates include current chairman and First Amendment attorney Jeffrey J. Douglas, AVN Senior Editor Mark Kernes, First Amendment attorney Reed Lee, NakedSword Chief Executive Officer Tim Valenti, and Xbiz and Crush business development consultant Mara Epstein. Each candidate who is elected will serve for a term of two years.
