NEW ORLEANS—Brian Welsh, founder of the website DraftStormy.com, which spurred Wicked Pictures contract player Stormy Daniels to give serious consideration to a run for incumbent David Vitter's seat in the U.S. Senate, yesterday morning went to his car, which was parked on a New Orleans street, only to find that it had been firebombed the previous night.
"No one had seen anything like this before," Welsh told WGNO-TV reporter Glynn Boyd. "When I asked the police, 'Have you seen anything like this before,' [they said] 'Not in this dramatic fashion.'"
According to the WGNO report, "Surveillance cameras captured someone opening the driver's side door, tossing something inside and walking away," and that "seconds later, the car was in flames. Then it blew up."
Since Welsh currently serves as a political advisor to the Daniels campaign, he suspects that may have a bearing on the bombing.
"It's too early for me to go pointing fingers," Welsh told WGNO. "I'd like to hear officially what happened, and then we can take it from there. ... If somebody's trying to send me a message, something like this is not going to work."
At present, Daniels, whose well-reviewed Operation Tropical Stormy has just been released, has formed an "exploratory committee" to assess a November run for Vitter's Senate seat, and the original reason Welsh attempted to "draft Stormy" in the first place was that her presence as an intelligent, well-spoken adult actress/director would play well against Vitter's sex-scandal-ridden career. Vitter's phone number appeared several times in the records of Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the "D.C. Madam," and Vitter, who has refused to momment on the issue, has been linked to more than one New Orleans prostitute, and possibly fathered a child by one of them. Daniels' entry into the campaign would maintain focus on Vitter's hypocritical attitudes toward sex and morality.
