DJ Pardoned by Dubai Royal Family for Carrying Pot, Porn

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - British DJ Grooverider (Raymond Bingham) was pardoned by the Dubai royal family and released from prison on Thursday after serving ten months of a four-year sentence for possession of porn DVDs and marijuana.

Grooverider was arrested at Dubai airport last November. He claimed to be unaware of the country's no-tolerance policies and of the contraband discovered in his bag.

The DJ was released during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, when Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed, traditionally pardons foreigners caught with small amounts of narcotics.

Grooverider co-hosted a popular weekly show on the BBC's Radio 1 with Fabio. He has flown home to England.
