POMPANO BEACH, FL—John Snavely, 26, who in 2010-11 performed in 16 or so gay and straight adult productions as Josh Logan and sometimes Champ, was charged yesterday in Florida with murder in the second degree for the September 2010 stabbing death of a married, Washington, DC-based man named Sam Del Brocco, who was found brutally slain in his beachfront Pompano Beach condo. Snavely currently sits in a St. Lucie County jail cell after violating his probation.
According to Queerty, “Authorities are still searching for a motive, though they believe Snavely may have stabbed Del Brocco over money. Though he was married for over 30 years to his wife Jan Shaffer, detectives discovered that Del Brocco possibly led a secret life while out of town in his role as president and CEO of PCI Communications in Washington, D.C., as well as at his beach condo in Pompano Beach.”
CBS Miami reports that the scene of the crime indicated a fierce struggle took place before Del Brocco lost his life. “At the time Del Brocco’s friends were shocked and sickened by the ruthless violence,” reported the station.
One friend of the murdered man said, “To realize that the whole fight may have taken place on three different floors, it’s a horrific thing. Someone was bound and determined that they were not going to leave until Sam was dead.”
The question of whether money motivated the killing was raised by a Broward County detective, who said, “We believe that there was some kind of encounter between the two of them that ultimately led to him being stabbed to death. Speculating on what that altercation may have started over, we’re not 100 percent sure of at this time. We believe it possibly is over money.”
A timeline of Del Brocco's movements during his final hours has also been patched together by investigators, who believe he lived a “secret life” distinct from his 30-year marriage and position as President and CEO of PCI Communications, a communications and strategy company headquartered in Washington, D.C.
According to CBS Miami, “Just hours before Del Brocco was murdered he ate dinner at Kelly’s Landing on Cordova, just off the 17th Street Causeway in Fort Lauderdale. About 8:30, the night of September 11, 2010, investigators believe he drove north on Federal Highway. Detectives said it’s possible he stopped at Johnny’s, a gay bar on Broward Boulevard or that he could have driven to the Galt Ocean Mile area and popped in at Dudes, another gay bar.
“About 12:30 on the morning of September 12,” the reporting continues, “deputies believe Del Brocco arrived back at his upscale beach condo and he was not alone. Broward sheriff’s investigators believe that man was Snavely.
“Around 9 p.m. on the same day,” it concludes, “Shafer called the sheriff’s office and asked if they could check on Del Brocco because she hadn’t heard from him all day. That’s when deputies discovered Del Brocco’s bloody body in the condo’s master bedroom.”
According to iafd.com, Joshua Logan appeared in 16 adult films between 2010 and 2011, and worked for two companies only—Jet Set Productions (gay) and Bang Productions (straight). The site’s list of his scene pairings indicates that he performed with 15 women and 19 men, but there could be others.
Morbidly, what the timeline clearly indicates is that, unless his 2011 releases were shot pre-September 2010, Logan continued to perform even after he allegedly killed Del Brocco.
In 2010, The Dirty had a really bad feeling about Snavely and issued the following warning: "Hey Nik, here is John Snavely aka Champ aka Josh Logan, famous forgy pornstar who also does straight porn to try and cover his forgy tracks. He is a felon who actually lives in San Antonio and is on probation but flies into miami to film his porn on a weekly. He would be in jail in a heartbeat if they knew this. Also he is a woman harasser and beater…this guy thinks he is god’s gift to women and treats them like sh*t when he gets dissed by them, he acts like a complete psycho. He also recently filmed a porn called the 'Jersey Score' where he played Ronnie..lmao. this loser needs to be humiliated and sent back to texas where he belongs…not miami..where he is going to eventually hit a girl. I wonder what his parents and family are going to think about this?"
Turned out he more than likely did a lot more than just hit someone, and it wasn't a woman.
