Austrian Church Porn Shoots Could Net Jail Time for Filmmakers

HÖRSCHING, Upper Austria—Austrian media is reporting that a female porn performer and her crew could be in legal hot water after shooting two porn films inside a Hörsching parish.

According to The Local,The film crew did not have the parish priest's permission to film in his church, the Austrian Press Agency reported.

“The Diocese of Linz said police are still investigating how the crew and actors were able to get into the church,” it added. “The films starred a ‘well-known’ porn actress and were made available to download on the internet.”

The authorities are reportedly still looking for the performer, named Babsi, 24, from Upper Austria. If found, she and the film crew “could be charged under Section 189 of the Criminal Code, which prohibits creating ‘mischief’ which is liable to cause legitimate nuisance in a church or religious community.” Punishments range from fines to imprisonment for up to six months.

The way the diocese sees it, the filming caused damage to “the dignity of the church.” As it considers how to restore that dignity, however, it also was moved to assure parishioners that, "The sacraments which were celebrated in the past few weeks in the parish church are still considered valid.”

That’s presumably a relief to the locals, though it’s unclear why one would assume that a consensual sex act would have any influence, positive or negative, on a sacred Christian rite that just happened to be performed in the same general location, as if the aether itself had been contaminated. That would appear to be giving the porn a tad more power than it deserves.
