RuPaul's DragCon LA Is Just Six Weeks Away

LOS ANGELES—The third annual RuPaul's DragCon Los Angeles will take place Friday through Sunday, May 11-13, at the Los Angeles Convention Center South Hall.

"RuPaul’s DragCon is the only place to kiki with your favorite drag queens and stars all under one roof!" the convention's website states. "Come through and meet your faves, snap a selfie, and get your life!" (In true drag fashion, everything ends in an exclamation point!)

And lest anyone think this is an all-adult affair, DragCon even has a "Kid Zone," where "[a]fter your kids have met their favorite drag queens, stop by the Kid Zone for arts, crafts and more!"

The convention, which will be open Friday evening beginning at 4 p.m. for "Preview Night" (only available to those who've purchased full weekend tickets), all day Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., and most of Sunday, opening at !0 a.m. till 4 p.m., also features a runway with performances by special guests, a "Werkroom" where attendees can get photos of their favorite RuPaul's Drag Queen winners and also-rans, and a massive trade show where attendees can buy anything and everything related to the world of transvesticism. There will also be a VIP Lounge with a view of the show floor, for those who have purchased VIP tickets. (Sorry; the website says that all the "VIP Experience" tickets are sold out.)

While the panels and other programming for the convention have yet to be announced, the convention's website does have a "talent page" with photos of the expected Drag Race attendees, including RuPaul herself, TS Madison, who hosted the recent Transgender Erotica Awards, and dozens more celebs, all decked out in their finery.

And while plenty of Southern California's transgender community are expected to attend, one company that won't be exhibiting this year, according to its publicist, is the Grooby Network.
