SAN FRANCISCO—Two years after releasing the acclaimed cult hit album Naked, GAYVN Hall of Fame performer, director and producer JD Slater has released a new musical collection. Western Skies and Eyes of Blue is Slater’s epic sonic ode to the sweeping majesty, power and romance of mythic western horizons.
The new album fuses traditional melodies including New Orleans voodoo jazz with dueling campfire guitars in the painted vistas of the Mojave Desert. The music evokes a pilgrim’s odyssey through sacred canyons, down dusty trails and through the Pacific Northwest’s mountains to rugged shores.
The four tracks that compose the 80-minute CD represent Slater’s 10th music collection. The entire project was written, arranged, produced and mixed by Slater, who said his driving reason to create is “to erase the preconceived bounds of spatial multi-tonal vibrations within a conventional physical space.”
Western Skies and Eyes of Blue is available in the store at RagingStallion.com. After a successful career as a gay adult performer, Slater co-founded the gay adult studio with business partner Chris Ward in 1999.
Although he has not turned away from the 165 gay adult films in which he appeared nor the more than 70 he directed, Slater said his first love always will be music. He has written soundtracks for all of Raging Stallion’s productions and also contributed to the works of studios including Titan Media, All Worlds Video, Falcon Studios, Studio 200, Zeus and Channel 1 Releasing.
