LOS ANGELES—Next Door Studios is launching a new ongoing gay original series called Bro Code, with the opening episode debuting Saturday. The series focuses on the hypermasculine nature of the idea of the bro code and what it means to be a “bro.”
“I love the concept of the bro code,” said writer Dalton King. “That there’s this set of rules that all men HAVE to follow if they want to be friends with each other. The idea of a bro code is already super homoerotic, so I love just being able to take that homoeroticism and crank it up to 11.”
The first episode, titled “He’s Off Limits,” stars Roman Todd and Andrew Miller, in which, according to a company recap, "Roman finds himself attracted to his best friend’s brother, Andrew. But, the first rule of the Bro Code is that brothers are off limits. So what’s Roman going to do?"
“Every time that we have either Andrew Miller or Roman Todd on set, we know it’s going to be a great day to make some magic!" said series director Walden Woods. "These two got along so well and were really able to bring out their unique personalities and apply that to their characters. Andrew is still getting his feet wet in the industry, so Roman was able to teach him a thing or two in front of, and behind the camera. It was really rewarding to direct these two and bring this scene to life. I think you all will really enjoy it!”
