LOS ANGELES—Alpha Studio Group banners Next Door Films and Disruptive Films have teamed up to produce new two-part project "Divergence."
To be released on the respective sites of each brand, the two parallel featurettes comprising Divergence start the same, with a meet cute between a sexy podcaster (Derek Kage) and a cute delivery driver (Trevor Harris), but from there, each version goes in wildly different direction. In the Next Door Films iteration, an awkward romance forms, while the Disruptive Films version goes a much darker direction.
“We thought it would be really fun to start a common story, and then have the different stories expand, being true to both brands,” Alpha Studio Group CCO Jeremy Babcock explained. “It was a really fun project to bring the two brands together for this, and I hope members will enjoy watching the two stories play out so differently.”
Commented Harris, “Getting to work with Derek Kage was a dream, and I was lucky enough to work with him twice on this feature! The 'Divergence' project was unlike anything I've done before, with one film being a cute love story and the other going much darker.”
He contined, “Playing a character with two different sides was unique, but having directors Michael Vegas and Siouxsie Q there giving their own perspective on the script really helped me get into it! Cannot wait for you guys to see this one.”
Added Kage, “Everything came together perfectly to create two amazing scenes. There were talented and creative directors, a great crew, Trevor Harris (need I say more?), and an awesome story that diverged into a unique romance and the other that turned quite sinister. I would do it all again in a heartbeat and I can't wait for y'all to see it.”
The Next Door Films version of “Divergence” releases today at Next Door Studios, with the Disruptive Films version is set to debut July 14 on both Next Door Studios and Disruptive Films. Meanwhile, Alpha Studio Group exclusives Jayden Marcos and Carter Woods pair up in forthcoming scene “Service Station: Service Industry Night,” arriving July 8 at Next Door Studios.
