Gay Chicago Magazine announced nominations for its ninth annual Grabby Awards show this morning. The Grabbys honor achievement in gay XXX movies in 25 categories.
There is also a special "People's Choice" award presented by Maleflixxx.tv.
Leading the studios in overall nominations are Channel 1 Releasing and Hot House Entertainment with 21 each. Falcon Studios brands received 19 nominations and COLT Studio Group received 16.
The single most nominated movie is Falcon Studios' The Velvet Mafia 1-2 with 12, followed closely by Hot House's Justice, which received 11 nominations.
Nominated for Best Video are Big Rig (Buckshot Productions), Boot Black Blues (Buckshot Productions), Delinquents (All Worlds), Justice (Hot House Entertainment), Manifesto (Raging Stallion Studios), and The Velvet Mafia 1-2 (Falcon Studios).
Conspicuously absent from the nominations is Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita which won a record 14 trophies at the recent GAYVN Awards. A Grabby spokesman explained that Lucas Entertainment failed to submit the movie for review by December 30, 2006, which was the deadline for nominations consideration.
The Grabby Awards will be held Memorial Day weekend, May 26, at the Park West Theater in Chicago. Tickets to the event go on sale April 2.
For the ninth time Chi Chi LaRue and Honey West will host the show. This year's co-hosts are Rascal Video exclusive Johnny Hazzard, Falcon Studios Lifetime Exclusive Matthew Rush, and Hot House Entertainment Lifetime Exclusive Kent North.
