LOS ANGELES—Himeros.TV ventures for the first time into distribution of its content on DVD with initial release Journeys.
"I'm so excited that our movies are going onto DVD, which has been an untapped sector of the market for us,” said Himeros founder and YouTube star Davey Wavey. “Journeys is the perfect movie to launch our DVD line. I'm very tactile and love the physical product so I hope we get more gay men, who still prefer DVD, to connect with our content and our message with this new line."
The Himeros DVD line will be distributed by Pulse Distribution in the U.S., and Vimpex in the European market. Dropping six DVDs a year, Himeros will follow up Journeys with Through the Looking Glass in March.
"We are thrilled to take on a new line like Himeros,” said a representative for Pulse. “We think the first DVD Journeys will resonate in the market and be a great introduction to audiences as to the level of quality of Himeros movies."
According to a provided synopsis, Journeys is an erotic feature about the twists and turns of gay life, starting with the story of a young man named Jason (Calvin Banks) who grapples with the loss of his partner Alex (Chris Harder) by moving through the five stages of grief. Jason processes his pain by embarking on a series of sexual adventures—from getting banged by a stranger in the basement, to being comforted by an older daddy who helps him forge a new path forward.
The movie also tells the story of loving couple Otto (Andre Donovan) and Desmond (Adam Ramzi), who struggle to communicate while experimenting with an open relationship as they go from bathhouse gloryholes to passionate makeup sex and more.
"There aren't many new studios in the marketplace these days and certainly none that capture the moment quite like Himeros does with their unconventional movies,” said a representative from Vimpex. “We look forward to a successful launch of the Himeros line."
