Former Gay Performer Runs for Parliament as Anti-Adult Candidate

LOS ANGELES—A former gay porn performer who appeared in numerous scenes for Raging Stallion and other studios under the name Logan McCree is now running for a seat in Scotland’s parliament, representing the recently formed Scottish Family Party. But the German-born McCree, who is seeking office under his given name of Philip Tanzer, is running on an anti-porn platform. His party describes itself as “pro-family, pro-marriage, pro-life,” and Tanzer now says that he had a “a negative view of the pornographic industry even before I joined it, but I needed the money,” according to an interview by The Daily Mail.

The Scottish newspaper The National described the party as “right-wing, pro-Brexit, anti-feminist,” and noted that the party’s leader Richard Lucas, “has defended comments comparing same-sex marriage to incest.”

Tanzer says that he identified as gay until the age of 32, but now says he is heterosexual and is in a relationship with a woman. On his Facebook page, he complains of what he calls “LGBT indoctrination… in school and in church.”

In another Facebook post, Tanzer says, “If you think EDUCATION should focus more on Math, Reading and Writing and less on LGBT, Black Lives Matter, and radical environmental activism, please 'like' and 'share' this message and consider voting for the Scottish Family Party.”

He told The Daily Mail that he was “pushed” into identifying as gay, which he now says he “was not.”

As AVN reported last year, Tanzer — who moved to Scotland just eight years ago — was the subject of a 2020 BBC documentary titled I Am a Men’s Rights Activist,  which told the story if his journey into the “men’s rights” movement, and his belief despite statistical evidence to the contrary that men are more likely to become victims of domestic violence than women.

A study by the United States National Institutes of Health, updated in February of this year, found that approximately one of every four women have been victims of domestic violence, compared to one of every nine men.

But he is now making opposition to his former profession — in which his credits span 10 years from 2007 to 2017, according to the Internet Adult Film Database — the centerpiece of his campaign for parliament.

“I have seen the harm porn addiction can do. Not all my experiences with it have been negative though. I met some wonderful people,” he told The Mail. “One of the main reasons to run for the Scottish Family Party has been my experience and helping people learn from it.”

Tanzer works as a hair stylist in Durness, a small village in the Scottish highlands, and also serves as a firefighter in that community, where he says that his past in the adult industry is no secret.

“We would all have preferred it if he was a female porn actress. But he is what he is,” The Mail quoted a fellow firefighter saying of Tanzer. “None of us have a problem with his past. He's a damn fine guy.”
