CYBERSPACE—Disruptive Films has announced the coming release of its latest feature, Honeyguide, which is set to debut in June 2024.
The story centers on Alaric Spence (Hoss Kado) and his love for Brooks Dunham (Kam Stone). Alaric and Brooks have a complicated love-hate relationship.
Honeyguide was written by Taylor Saracen and directed by Jessica Jasmin, Siouxsie Q and Michael Vegas.
According to Jasmin, “This was a very hard script to pull off and everyone on the crew pulled together to tell this story. Our crew has been the most creative, patient and loving people out there. Every single member poured their heart into this project and I am so grateful for every single one of them.”
Kado enthused, “It was a pleasure working with such a passionate crew, and being able to take on the central role and make it my own has been simply career-changing, at least in my mind. Honeyguide is such a dark, yet realistic romance not unlike my real life. It’s easy to play a role when your life feels like the role itself, and I'm definitely not afraid to shock a few people along the way. If love and romance aren't dark, I don't want them! Also, pretty sure I legit scared some of the cast on set embracing the role.”
Jasmin continued, “Hoss was such a delight to watch. He went all out with the character and made him his own. He made acting decisions that blew our minds. The final scene was beautiful to watch. We all had shivers behind the monitors. Hoss is such an incredible actor-performer, people are about to lose their minds!"
Vegas agreed, “I’m blown away by Hoss Kado's performances throughout this film. He was perfect for the role and brought it to a whole new level for this movie. The ending sequence is perfection. I can't wait to see the audience's reaction to what we have created.”
"It was absolutely amazing to be a part of this movie," offered Stone. "Being a lead character in a movie was something special! I had the best experience I’ve ever had on set, feeling the emotions of this character and being that character's demeanor was so spectacular."
Siouxsie Q added, "I believe the real star of the film is our gaffer, Joel Sinclair. Joel was able to perfectly capture that magnificently warm summer light that encompasses the whole film, giving us a palpable taste of the intoxicatingly cruel summer vibes this film evokes. Additionally, the bold choices our film’s star, Hoss Kado, made during this production were nothing short of unforgettable. I also had the great honor of contributing to the title and metaphoric themes of this film. I chose to call the movie Honeyguide, after a species of bird that practices brood parasitism (the birds lay eggs in other birds’ nests, and then the honeyguide hatchlings kill the other birds' young once it hatches). Alaric Spence follows a similar path, which is why our tagline is ‘Tending the Brood.’ It’s a twisted tale that really delves into the animalistic qualities of humanity—none of our characters are truly bad, they are simply finding ways to feed, as every animal must.”
