LOS ANGELES—The 2021 GayVN Awards looked and felt quite different this year due to the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. It turned into an all-virtual extravaganza where thousands of fans tuned in online to see some of their favorite gay porn stars present and take home trophies including Performer of the Year, Best Actor, Best Cock and more.
One of the biggest moments of the evening happened when legendary director mr. Pam became this year’s Hall of Fame honoree. AVN Media Network CEO Tony Rios spoke about all her accomplishments in the industry, that began many years ago when she was just an intern, before she was presented with the honor.
What made her moment that much more eye-catching and fun to watch was that she wasn’t alone during her exciting night. Instead, she was surrounded by some of her gay porn BFF’s including Ricky Larkin, Leo Forte and Brian Bonds who happily acted as her cheerleaders while she passionately talked about her love of the industry that she’s been in for many years.
“I didn’t know what the f**k I was doing,” she exclaimed while reflecting on the first scene she shot all the way back in 2004. “But I knew this was where I belonged.”
Mr. Pam thanked the many people who helped her along the way including iconic gay porn director Jerry Douglas who passed on January 9 at the age of 85. She also made sure to mention how important it is to be kind to one another in relation to the negativity that the colleagues who partied with her last night and many others have been receiving online.
The emotions continued to pour out of mr. Pam as her speech continued. She brought up the women beside her that have made the gay porn industry thrive over the past several decades while gushing about just how much she loves her job. “I’m so proud of being a gay pornographer.”
“I’m so honored. 17 years in this business, it’s crazy!,” she later said in a series of Instagram stories after the show ended. “Thank you GayVN for the beautiful award, thank you for everybody who came tonight and congratulations to everybody who won. Keep shooting porn out there you guys, keep doing it!”
Mr. Pam earning this honor has been a long time coming. Over the past two decades she has kept gay porn lovers happy and satisfied by producing hundreds of smoking hot films for studios including Lucas Entertainment, Hot House, Jet Set and more.
And she shows no signs in slowing down as the bubbly blonde now has her own studio, Wham Bam Pictures, which she happily promoted by showing off some of her films during her very upbeat acceptance speech.
The GayVN’s included a ton of hilarious and heartfelt moments as the show went on. Comedian Alec Mapa and drag icon Sherry Vine brought on the LOL’s by joking about different fetishes from farting to clowns and also poking fun at several headline-making stories including the Puerto Vallarta drowning fiasco that happened at the end of 2020.
A lot of the acceptance speeches were quite different compared to how they’ve been in years past. Many, just like mr. Pam, brought on the emotions where they talked about just how different things have been during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is so crazy. We’ve had such a crazy year and to be here accepting this award is awesome,” Brock Banks said as he took home the Best Newcomer prize. “I sometimes thought I wasn’t doing enough because of COVID so to be recognized at all is awesome.”
Steve Cruz, who won Best Director (Non-Feature) for Falcon Studios’ Cake Shop, also stressed the importance of supporting the gay porn stars who he and many others aren’t able to hire because of quarantine and how difficult it is for them to travel in the world we’re in today. Cake Shop also scored Best 3-Way Sex Scene (Donnie Argento, Jake Nikola, Sharok).
