Helix Studios exclusive Blake Mitchell is the inspiration for the first installment in a series of adult novels titled Rise Up. The series, which chronicles pivotal moments in the lives of LGBTQ youth as experienced by Helix models, will debut in July.
Published by 13 Red Media, parent company to Helix Studios, the novels follow different protagonists navigating the ups and downs of adulthood. While the characters change and the stories vary, there are common themes that run through the Rise Up novels: the struggle for independence, identifying one’s passions, and searching for acceptance and love.
Helix Studios founder Keith Miller said, “I’ve heard such amazing stories of love and life over the years from our many models, and now to see these stories used as a basis for an LGBTQ novel is truly a dream come true.“
The novels are written by Taylor Saracen with narrative source material provided by Helix exclusives. These novels will be released in print as well as digital platforms. Participating models will share in revenue from novel sales.
The first book—inspired by Mitchell and titled His Own Way Out, is scheduled for release on July 24.
In His Own Way Out, the multiple GayVN Award winner shares his story starting back when he was a teenager and unsure of which direction to take in life. Still young, he’s nonetheless aware of the challenges he will face. Being outed as bisexual in the Bluegrass State was an alienating experience, and the events to follow will be worse. Still, the young Kentuckian is driven to make something more of himself … and find His Own Way Out.
Mitchell, who has renewed his exclusive contract with Helix through 2019, said, “Helix has really given me great opportunities to grow my career, and I am excited to continue working with such a solid company. I can’t wait to share this story with the world and trust it will touch others as much as it has me.”
