Yappo Rethinks Gay VOD Product

LAS VEGAS - Gay Yappo, the gay twin of Yappo's straight video-on-demand website, hasn't changed in substance, but the company recently combined the two siblings into one entity in order to streamline operations.

"Gay Yappo and Straight Yappo are one entity," according to product manager Liam Colins. "They share one database, and as such, we thought that specifying the difference in the name was an irrelevant and antiquated approach."

The GayYappo.com URL now points to a section within Yappo.com, he added. Users are asked to pick a sexual orientation the moment they land on the homepage.

That doesn't mean Yappo's gay section is "less gay," though, Colins said.

"We went with a very masculine feel [for the site's redesign]," he noted. "The goal was to offer some differentiation and contrast, while staying within the Yappo brand appearance.

"This is the first of many new advances, both technological and functional, that we are planning in the next couple of months," Colins continued. "We want Yappo to be the new face of video on demand, and we are working closely with studios, webmasters and our various partners to establish a new standard."

Yappo, founded in December 2006, offers more than 48,000 titles from 1,000 studios including Vivid, Wicked Pictures, Private Media, Pink Visual, Elegant Angel, Ninn Worx_SR, Diabolic, Hustler, Evil Angel, Adam & Eve, Jules Jordan Video and New Sensations, Colins said. It is a sister company to affiliate program TopBucks and DVD studio Pink Visual.
