HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - XR Wholesale set up a vending booth in the Erotic City section of L.A. Pride under the BoyzShop banner, drawing a lot of attention from visitors of the annual GLBT festival. The 37th Annual L.A. Pride festival, which was produced by Christopher Street West, took place June 8-10 in West Hollywood, Calif., drawing an estimated 300,000 attendees.
According to James Medina, XR affiliate representative, the weekend was "a study in the interaction between electro, giant horse cocks, and the public".
"Of our numerous options in toys to bring we settled on Giant Jelly Rubber dongs and electro [gear]," explained Medina. "One thing we quickly learned was that an anatomically correct, rubber horse penis had enough gravity to pull in people who would have [normally] just walked by.
BoyzShop, which is owned by XR, displayed various wares unwrapped and made them available for the public, lending to demonstrations and "photo-ops." The Shroom Dong, Jolly Good Giant Dong, and Mighty Joe Dong were among the products that received the most attention — being ogled by gay, lesbian, and straight attendees alike.
"Once we got their attention, their eyes drifted to the electrosex setup," Medina continued. "We had a deluxe ‘digital powerbox’ hooked up to a bipolar, steel electro-egg and silicone electrosex plug. We allowed visitors to hold them in their hands while we turned on the power. We learned that electro affects everyone differently. Many asked us to turn off the power as they were enjoying it a little too much for public. One enthusiastic individual described our booth as the best part of L.A. Pride."
