Promoter Will Clark announced recently that his weekly Porn Idol event has changed venues to XL, one of the hottest clubs in Manhattan. XL is located at 357 W. 16th St. (near 9th Ave.) in the popular Chelsea district.
Porn Idol, a faux porn-star-search show, is part of the club's Tuesday XXX-Night that also features go-go boys before and after the show, and during intermission. There is no cover charge for this event.
Porn Idol 2006, Round One, which started on January 10, continues each Tuesday till February 7. Qualifying rounds begin at 10 p.m. Contestants compete in the "Porn Dialogue," "Sexy Strip," "Safer Sex Demo," and "Fake Orgasm" categories. Every contestant will receive gay porn and ID Lube just for entering.
The winner each week will receive $100, courtesy of BigMuscle.com, and the opportunity to compete in the finals Tuesday, February 14, Clark said.
Five finalists from the previous weeks will compete against each other and sell raffle tickets to benefit the Gay/Lesbian Anti-Violence Project during the night. The amount that they raise will be added in points to their final scores for the evening. The winner will receive $500 (courtesy of BigMuscle.com) and a photo shoot — nude or clothed — courtesy of New York photographer Jeff Eason.
Porn Idol celebrity judges include porn star Kyle Douglas, singer Brian Kent (who will also perform), Broadway Cares' Anthony LaTorella (Jan. 24); porn star and producer Enrico Vega, The Glamazons (who will also perform) (Jan. 31); porn stars Scott Spears, Jake Deckard, Felipe Carson, Mario Ortiz and dragstress Peppermint Gummybear (Feb. 7).
The Porn Idol 2006, Round One, finale on Feb. 14 is a benefit for the Gay/Lesbian Anti-Violence Project. Celebrity judges include Derek Hartley, Edgar Rodriguez, Stephen Schulman, and Gary Montgomery.
Clark also announced the schedule for Porno Bingo Wednesdays at 9 p.m. at midtown Manhattan's 9th Ave. Bistro.
Now in its fourth year, Porno Bingo has raised an estimated $15,000 for various New York AIDS, sports, and community charities.
Season Four kicked off on January 11 with an appearance by Gus Mattox. Tonight's Porno Bingo (Jan.18) inaugurates a series of Titan Men nights aimed at celebrating gay porn while raising money for worthwhile organizations. Josh Kole will make a special appearance and the night's beneficiary is the New York Gay Pool League (which, in 2005, donated over $13,000 to various HIV/AIDS groups).
Upcoming Porno Bingo guests and beneficiaries include Tim Rusty and the Glamazons, benefiting the Museum of Sex, sponsored by Hot House (Jan. 25); Charmaigne Pussy, Kris Landherr, and Collin O'Neal, benefiting the Gay/Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, sponsored by Hot House (Feb.1); and Uniform Night with Scott Spears, benefiting the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (Feb. 8).
Porno Bingo's anniversary on Feb. 15 will feature porn superstar Spike and many surprise guests, and benefit Visual AIDS. Author (Secrets of a Gay Marine Porn Star) Rich Merritt joins Porno Bingo on Feb. 22 to raise funds for Team New York.
Porno Bingo's March schedule includes the 1st — Kyle Douglas' birthday party, benefiting Body Positive, sponsored by Raging Stallion; and the 8th — Will Clark's birthday plus Titan exclusive Spencer Quest, benefiting the Gay Men's Chorus, sponsored by Titan Men.
