WeHo Awards Gala Set for Jan. 22

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - The 8th Annual WeHo Awards, recognizing outstanding achievement across the spectrum in the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community of the greater Los Angeles area, will be presented Jan. 22 at Avalon Hollywood. Winners of awards in 34 categories will be revealed.

 

Three special honorees will be feted at this year's gala: Cleve Jones, founder of the AIDS Quilt, will receive the Vanguard Award, and Chris Diamond and Wayne Elias were named Men of the Year for their support of countless organizations and the strides they've made within the community.

 

Kim Kardashian and Perez Hilton will emcee, and Jason Dottley of Sordid Lives is scheduled to appear. Other Hollywood celebrities will serve as trophy presenters.

 

The 8th Annual WeHo Awards is produced by Anthony Cortez and directed by Mark Martinez with assistance of stage manager Joe Evert Michaels, production manager Steve Hatchett, celebrity directors Mark Stuplin and Sue Flannagan, video and music director Ray Rhodes, voice actor and announcer John Taylor, presenter coordinator Eric Moorman, media director Rena Trujillo, silent auction chairman Ron Goldman, trophy captain Tarek Zodi, reservations host Brian McDonald, production assistant Ron Hamel, event programmer Brian Lindsey and campaign designer Viktor Paleyo.

 

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Wall - Las Memorias Project, which is dedicated to promoting wellness and preventing illness among Latino populations affected by HIV/AIDS, and Equality California, which works to achieve equality and secure legal protections for LGBT people.
