SAN FRANCISCO - Titan Media has announced that it will underwrite the Healing Waters float for the upcoming San Francisco Pride parade. Healing Waters is a nonprofit that helps people with HIV/AIDS through wilderness adventures such as whitewater rafting, camping, and mountain climbing.
"As part of our continuing efforts to help support nonprofit community-based organizations, we are very proud to be underwriting Healing Waters for Pride 2007," says Keith Webb, vice president of Titan Media. "We have always felt that Pride should be focused on the community and all the amazing work being done by nonprofit organizations, not about our models dancing on floats."
Titan's choice in supporting the Healing Waters float is in memory of longtime employee Eric Skiver who died late last year from HIV/AIDS-related complications.
Titan president Bruce Cam says of Skiver, "I know how much Eric appreciated the trips he made with Healing Waters over the years. I hope that through our support others may experience that same sense of joy and accomplishment that was so special to Eric."
Mike Dugan, Healing Waters executive director, said, "Healing Waters would not have a float without the generous financial support from Titan Media. We are a small nonprofit without a budget for major public relations activities."
The float, designed by Devon Raphael, is a volunteer raft guide, and built by volunteers, will have representations of different types of Healing Waters activities.
