Raging Stallion took several top awards at the 10th Annual GAYVN Awards Saturday at the Gfitcenter in San Francisco, including Best Picture (GRUNTS), Best Director (Chris Ward) and Best Actor (Jake Deckard, GRUNTS). All Worlds’ Link: The Evolution took six awards, including Best Music, which was won by director of the film’s Chi Chi LaRue’s nephew, Red Shag.
The hosts of the star-studded soiree, Lady Bunny, and Derek Hartley and Romaine Patterson of the Sirius OutQ show The Derek & Romaine Show, entertained through song, dance and comedy. Some of the winners entertained as well as when Ricky Sinz accepted his Best Solo Performance award, also for GRUNTS, and quipped, “I never thought sticking AK47s up my ass would get me an award.”
Derek dissed Guy Parker's and Jesse Santana's tans, saying, “One word: melanoma,” while Bunny dissed LaRue, Jake Deckard, Kathy Griffin, her cohosts, the audience, and well, everyone. All in good fun, though, right? Standing stage right, a sign language interpreter communicated all the sass to fans and industry alike. AVN Online publisher MJ McMahon presented a Special Achievement Award to Tim Valenti, co-founder of NakedSword.com, and Bunny performed songs with lyrics created around the show.
