PlanetOut Inc. announced today that it is considering putting its adult division, Specialty Publications, up for sale. In a statement to investors, executives from PlanetOut, which also owns Out and The Advocate, explained the possible sale was due to the fact that SpecPub did not fit the ad-revenue-driven model of the other PlanetOut businesses, while stressing that the division was a "highly separable business and an excellent acquisition opportunity."
Managing Director of SpecPub, David Dempsey, told GAYVN, "PlanetOut expects to start specific discussions with prospective buyers late in our 2nd Quarter, which runs April through June."
