SAN DIEGO, Calif. - SX Video has joined the growing number of gay adult studios that are using blogs as a means of communicating with fans.
Launched at the end of October, the blog offers hardcore outtakes from SX titles, behind-the-scenes pictures, commentary from director Ben Baird and the occasional poll. New entries are posted several times weekly, according to studio spokesman Fred Wilson.
Baird said he likes the interactivity the blog affords.<
"SX fans come to the blog regularly and post their own comments," he said. "I read them all and answer when I can. People write about the movies, the guys and offer ideas for future projects. The comments really can help me take my work in new directions."
As can the polls, he noted. Recent surveys have revealed SX customers want to see more cum-shots and watersports.
"For [a poll] about cum in asses - [asking] what guys want to see - we got almost 50 responses with suggestions and ideas for scenes," Baird told GAYVN.com. "A watersports survey indicated that 28 percent of voters want to see it all over the body, while 22 percent like it up the ass and 13 percent like it in the mouth. So, I will probably do more all-over-body watersports scenes."
Models routinely read the blog as well, Wilson noted, although none had posted replies as of press time.
"The models tell us they read the blog, but so far none have responded to the fans," Wilson told GAYVN.com. "This could be because models are busy doing the work."
Baird said that shouldn't stop fans from speaking directly to their favorite performers via blog comments, though.
"As a matter of policy to protect our models' privacy, we do not give out their contact information," he said. "The blog is an easy way for fans to let their favorite guys know they are appreciated."
At its heart, "the blog is a way for fans to feel connected to the work," Wilson told GAYVN.com. "A lot of the posts are about who the customers like the best and want to see more of. They also let us know who they don't like so much. Ben reads the posts and tries to put the popular guys in more shoots.
"For example, Aidyn Michael, the ex-marine, gets a lot of positive comments, and Ben has used him in several recent shoots. He is in the latest two releases: Bareback Auditions 3 and Sleaze 4, for which he is also the cover model. He's also featured in our next release, Bareback College."
SX Video titles are distributed by Adult Superstore, AVNS, IVD, Marina Pacific and New Barbary Coast. DVDs also are available through SX's online store.
