PHOENIX - Hyde Park Productions has given exclusive Ryan Meyers the green light to direct his first feature film, Half Pipe Twinks. The title tentatively is planned for release in early 2009 under the Meyers-led Hyde Park division Hybrid Boys Productions.
As conceived, Hybrid Boys films will mix the boy next door, preppy twink, skater boy and jock type in a brand new genre, Meyers said. Half Pipe Twinks is about a group of friends who all are in the closet. As the movie progresses, they are forced to come out. The story ends in an orgy of relief that they can finally be themselves.
"The movie will be similar to the premise to Gus Van Sant's Paranoid Park, except you will be able to see the sexual interaction," said Hyde Park producer Doug Knight. "Ryan has learned a great deal during his career with us, and we felt it was time we backed him in his first mainstream adult release. He is my protégé, and I will assist with the filming in a limited capacity.
"We have gone over the script and location, and there is no doubt Half Pipe Twinks will be a great movie," he added. "I can't wait for the production to begin."
Meyers starred in Hyde Park's Twink Dreams, Frisky Twinks, A Boy's Dream, Twinks in Paradise, Dark Realm's Twink Awakening and Winning the Bet.
"This is a natural progression for Ryan," said Hyde Park and Dark Realm director Ted McIntyre. "He has always been kind of the big brother to the other models when on set, helping them get prepared and understanding how much work actually goes into a quality production. As a Knightboy he has always been professional, and we look forward to seeing that same professionalism in directing Half Pipe Twinks."
Meyers, too, said he thinks it's time to take his career to the next level.
"Simply put, I have worked in the industry as a model for a couple years now and I love it," he said. "I love everything about it. The fact that it is a lot of work and fun at the same time makes it the ideal industry for me. I think I have proven myself as a talented model and will continue to do so as I also take on the role of director.
"I have learned a lot from Doug and Ted while being on location with Hyde Park and Dark Realm - like how to pay attention to the chemistry of models," he added. "I also got a taste of what it's like to direct while filming the final scene of Winning the Bet. I have always been the type that likes a challenge. With where I am at in my life, this seems like the perfect challenge to take on."
